THE PERFECT MISTAKE

BALOON MOLD

PERSISTENCE ALWAYS WINS

I love to work with different materials, get myself out of my comfort zone and investigate my limits.

For this project I wanted to work with ceramics and the intention was to capture a fragile balloon in a mold and to develop a ceramic similitude. This eventually became a process with ceramic splashes everywhere, complete failures and a never-ending developmental process. But all of a sudden an unusual shape emerged from a failed experiment, which I caught in a mold and further developed into these remarkable vases. For me, this was a direct proof that persistence always wins. And hard work pays off.

The process and story behind this ‘perfect mistake’ was featured in the well-recognized and influential magazine ‘Vt-Wonen.
